Product specification

A water-based release agent that will not char or gum when subjected to heat, resulting in the excellent release of weld spatter. It can be used for all forms of welding and can be applied to work pieces, shrouds, nozzles, jigs, tools and fixtures to prevent adhesion. As X-Spat is water based and contains effective organic materials, there is a reduced risk to health from damaging decomposition fumes produced during the welding process. The use of X-Spat will also extend the life of nozzles, inhibit shroud blockages and ensure gas flow in inert gas welding.

The aqueous formulation of X-Spat is designed to reduce the negative effects associated with welding fumes. X-Spat reduces particulate fume formed by the high temperature of the arc, which would volatilise small amounts of metal and metal oxides, and then cool in the surrounding air as microscopic particles to appear as fumes.

The fume varies dependent on the metal being welded and the type of filler rod or wire being used. These often include Aluminium, Chromium, Iron, Copper, Nickel, Silicon, Magnesium, Manganese and Molybdenum, in addition to the decomposition products Carbon Monoxide, Carbon Dioxide, Nitric Oxide and Nitrogen Dioxide gasses which may be released through the action of the arc plasma on the shielding gas and the surrounding atmosphere.
The unique formulation of X-Spat is designed to reduce the decomposition products to give users a safer alternative to conventional anti-spatters where smoke plumes are prevalent.

Directions for use:

Apply by either spray or brush around the area to be welded. After completion of the job allow area to cool before wiping/brushing to remove residues.

Features and Benefits

Silicone free release agent – ideal for preparing further treatments and coatings.
Ideally suited for stick, MIG and continuous wire welding – versatile.
Can be diluted with up to four parts of water – economical in use.
