One Year on…

Sonny Jones | Laboratory Technician

Job Role & Responsibilities:

My main duties include quality control such as checking finished aerosols and bulk manufactured products. I’m also involved in product development, PPE checks and of course general laboratory duties.

Before Liquid Science:

I started work at a fiberglass and gelcoat manufacturer back in 2015. Whilst there, I diversified my role and branched into other departments such as technical service and research and development. I then pursued a new challenge and was successful in applying for the role of Quality Control Technician at worldwide raw material supplier Univar Solutions. Whilst working at the solvent farm, I worked with over 50 different solvents and gained further experience learning increased quality control testing methods.

Hobbies:

Watching Liverpool, spending time with my partner, seeing friends, eating out!

Why did you join Liquid Science?

With the experience I had gained in Technical Services and Research Development, I wanted to further my career and after meeting with the Technical Manager and Director, it was apparent the role at Liquid Science was a fantastic opportunity. With the company growing, promoting good family values and its continued investment, I was excited to become part of the team.

What do you look forward to in your new role?

Learning about the thousands of products we produce and sell, whilst further developing my understanding of the hundreds of raw materials that we use.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Liquid Science?

Each day is different from the next. We produce a vast range of a products, and development is a fundamental part of the process. We can work on anything from a fabric protector aerosol, to a printing ink cleaner or even a radiator inhibitor, allowing me to experience how different raw materials interact with one another to produce the desired properties. I’ve also gained further understanding of how using different combinations of components can create the required application of the product.

What’s your most hated household chore?

Folding and hanging clothes, then putting them away!

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?

To be able to fly!
