Job Role & Responsibilities:

As Managing Director, my role is to set the vision and strategic direction of the business, lead the team, make key decisions and ensure we continue to grow and improve.

Before Liquid Science I was…

Technical Director at VIL Resins Ltd, working in the lab (full white coat included!).

What do you enjoy most about being part of the Liquid Science team?

I enjoy working with like minded colleagues who share my drive to make Liquid Science a successful business. I enjoy watching all departments working together and supporting one another to ultimately achieve the same goal, and I’m grateful to be part of that team.

Describe your job in three words…

Fast-paced. Strategic. Purposeful.

Best advice you’ve ever been given?

Sleep on it (when making important decisions).

What helps keep you motivated?

I’m passionate about continually improving Liquid Science and creating a business that we can all be proud of. I’m motivated by finding new ideas, challenging the way we do things and discovering new ways to improve our processes and performance. I believe there is always something we can do better and I’m committed to building a company that continues to grow, innovate and set the standard within our industry. I’m also driven to give my children the opportunities which I’ve had, and would be very proud to have a fifth generation of Wallens in the family manufacturing business. 

However we all need to maintain a work/life balance, so outside of work, regular trips to the Lake District with my family also helps; time away often brings fresh ideas!

What’s your favourite film?

Moneyball. But if we’re talking childhood, nothing beats Cool Runnings or The Might Ducks, they’re 90s classics!

The One Percent Club, Race Across The World and Clarkson’s Farm.

This year, I’m competing as part of a go-karting team, taking part in 24 hour endurance races at four different circuits across Europe. Two down, two to go!
